ARTHUR TEMPLE (1910 - 1990s)

Arthur Temple and his brother Thomas William Temple lived in the Jesmond area of Newcastle. At the outbreak of war Arthur joined the the regular army but was drafted out and he then joined "C" Company Home Guard. During and after the war he worked at his fathers various butchers shops, Temple Butchers, in and around Newcastle. After his retirement he moved to Eastbourne.

THOMAS WILLIAM TEMPLE (OCT 1903 - SEPT 1969)

Thomas William Temple worked in his fathers Butchers shop in the Grainger Market in Newcastle. He married Mary Smith in 1926 and had three daughters. Thomas was one of the original members of No 5 Platoon, No 2 Company in 1940. He attained the rank of Corporal until he was transferred to the Battalion Weapon School in 1943 as a Sergeant Instructor. He opened a General Dealers shop which he continued working in after the war.

PRIVATE CHARLES ROBERTSON TAYLOR (MARCH 1924 - )

Charles Robertson Taylor lived at 44 Fifth Avenue in Heaton. After leaving school he became an Apprentice Joiner and obtained a Green Card from the Ministry of Works. In 1942 he joined "C" Company until 1944, when he was sent to London by the Ministry of Works to help rebuild the war ravaged capital city. He returned to the North East in 1946. After working for several builders he found employment with British Rail in 1949 as a Joiner and remained their until his retirement.

PRIVATE ARTHUR EDWIN THOMPSON (AUG 1923 - )

Arthur Edwin Thompson lived at Newton Rd South Gosforth (now Freeman Rd) in 1940. He joined the LDV and became a Signaller with "C" Company. Amongst his other duties he was required to signal, by lamp, the Metropolitan Vickers House in Northumberland Rd Newcastle, from the top of St Georges Church Bell Tower. He started at Parsons in 1939 as an Apprentice and became a Chartered Electrical Engineer. In 1960 he joined NESCo ( North Eastern Supply Company), which later became NEEB (North Eastern Electricity Board). He retired in 1978 and lives in Gosforth.
