JOHN McINTOSH MUSE (1926 - )

John Muse was born in Gateshead and in 1939 lived at 57 Jesmond Dene Road. He was evacuated to Carlisle but returned to Newcastle in 1942 and Joined "C" Company. Noted for his marksmanship, devoted service and ready wit, he was also a regular on the football team. He worked at British Oak Insurance, 1 Eldon Square. In 1943 he initially joined the RAF and was Aircrew under training until he transferred to the Army and volunteered for the Parachute Regiment. He completed training and was posted to Palestine. In 1948 he was demobbed and returned to his job at British Oak Insurance and remained in the insurance business until his retirement in 1988.

LANCE CORPORAL EDWARD WILLIAM MOORE (JUNE 1922 - )

Edward William Moore was a Clerk at J.M. Rounthwaite, Architects in Newcastle in 1940 and lived at 66 Sackville Place in Heaton. He joined "C" Company in Jan 1942 and became a proficient B.A.R operator in the Battle Drill Platoon. He remained in "C" Company until Dec 1944 when the Home Guard officially stood down. He introduced his future wife, Miss Audrey Jeffrey to Administrative Duties with "C" Company. During and after the war he worked in many departments of the Civil Service eventually retiring from the Ship Production Overseers Office in 1982.
