JAMES CLIFFORD CASTLING (MAY 1911 -1999) James Clifford Castling was born in Stokesly, Yorkshire and moved to Newcastle in the early 1930s to work for NESCO ( which later became the North Easterm Electricity Board). At the start of the war James was seconded to Strakers in Newcastle in a reserved occupation. During the war he married and moved to Lonsdale Terrace in West Jesmond and joined "C" Company. FREDERICK FRANK CHURCHILL (DEC 1925 - FEB 2003) Frederick Frank Churchill lived at 45 Sunbury Ave, West Jesmond and was initially evacuated at the outbreak of war from Jesmond Towers Boys School. On his return he attended Sterrys College and was accepted to Kings College to study Dentistry. During this time he joined "C" Company. He eventually joined the Royal Engineers in 1943 and was posted to the Far East. He left the Royal Engineers in 1948 and became a quantity surveyor, eventually becoming the Senior Quantity Surveyor with North Tyneside Council. He retired in 1988.
