Frederick Hutt was born in Cardiff in 1891 and was the son of Edward Hutt and the former Sarah Jane Styles. His father worked for Spillers and was moved to Tyneside. They lived in Clarke st, Gateshead. Frederick trained as a Bookbinder and worked for a while in Gloucester. He was also a member of the Territorial Army whilst their.

In 1914 he joined the Army and served in the 9th Battalion Durham Light Infantry as private 9/2373. He was promoted to Sergeant and recieved a commision in the same regiment in September 1918. During his service he was gassed and temporarily blinded. In 1918 he married Hilda Noble and they had four children. He resigned his commision on 31st July 1920. After WW1 he started a mens clothing business. He also worked for his brother and sister. At times Frederick couldnt work because of severe rheumatism. He also contracted Malaria whilst in Salonica.

He served during WorldWar 2 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 5th Battalion Northumberland Home Guard , Ncle Gosforth and lived at 20 Meadway Forest Hall. At the outbreak of WW2 he was approached to become a Cell Commander in the Auxilliary Units and his garden was dug up and used to conceal weapons and ammunition.

He died in 1969 during a flu epidemic.
